POST MORTEM is an international horror short film festival founded in 2008 by Dr. Eddy Yuvoniel. Originally launched under the name La Posada, the festival quickly evolved into one of Mexico’s most widely participated horror short film platforms, receiving thousands of submissions from filmmakers around the world.
POST MORTEM was created as a territory for the darkest, most unsettling, and provocative visions of cinema. A meeting point where creators and genre enthusiasts explore the limits of horror, the strange, and the bizarre, celebrating the many forms of the fantastic and the disturbing within contemporary film.
Throughout its history, the festival has presented screenings in museums, universities, cemeteries, parks, cinemas, and cultural venues across Aguascalientes, creating unique experiences for audiences and expanding genre cinema beyond conventional screens.
POST MORTEM has also featured the participation of filmmakers, writers, and artists connected to fantastic and horror cinema, as well as book presentations, comics, and art exhibitions that dialogue with the festival’s dark imagination.
More than an event, POST MORTEM is a celebration of the unsettling: a space where cinema explores its shadows and where the strangest images find a place to exist.
POST MORTEM es un festival internacional de cortometrajes de horror fundado en 2008 por el Dr. Eddy Yuvoniel. Desde su origen —cuando nació bajo el nombre La Posada— el festival ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en uno de los espacios de exhibición de cine de horror con mayor participación en México, recibiendo miles de cortometrajes provenientes de todo el mundo.
POST MORTEM surge como un territorio para las visiones más oscuras, inquietantes y provocadoras del cine. Un punto de encuentro donde creadores y amantes del género exploran los límites del horror, lo extraño y lo bizarro, celebrando las múltiples formas de lo fantástico y lo perturbador dentro del cine contemporáneo.
A lo largo de su historia, el festival ha llevado sus proyecciones a museos, universidades, panteones, parques, salas de cine y espacios culturales de Aguascalientes, generando experiencias únicas para el público y expandiendo el cine de género más allá de las pantallas convencionales.
POST MORTEM también ha contado con la participación de realizadores, escritores y artistas vinculados al cine fantástico y de horror, además de presentar libros, cómics y exposiciones de arte que dialogan con el imaginario oscuro del festival.
Más que un evento, POST MORTEM es una celebración de lo inquietante: un espacio donde el cine explora sus sombras y donde las imágenes más extrañas encuentran un lugar para existir.
